About Sacramento

California's capital sits where the American River meets the Sacramento River. Its central grid holds the State Capitol and Capitol Park, the Golden 1 Center, and Old Sacramento State Historic Park, while established neighborhoods such as Midtown, East Sacramento, Land Park, Curtis Park, and the Pocket stretch out from the core.

Homes & architecture

Housing ranges from Victorian and Craftsman homes near the central city to 1920s–1940s Tudor and Spanish Revival homes, post-war ranch homes, and newer infill townhomes, condos, and lofts.

Getting around

Interstate 5, Interstate 80, US 50, and State Route 99 all pass through the city, and SacRT light rail connects downtown with surrounding communities. Sacramento International Airport is north of the city.

Parks & recreation

William Land Park (home to the Sacramento Zoo), McKinley Park and its rose garden, Capitol Park, and the American River Parkway, a long riverside trail corridor, are local landmarks.
